The Client

Asset Management Engineers (AME) provide specialist services for the inspection and management of plant and assets, including assurance, training, contracting, risk assessment and safety audits.

Headquartered in Western Australia, AME are trusted advisors to the global mining and energy, manufacturing, industrial, construction, rail and government sectors.

The Challenge

AME was seeking to transition to a digital asset management platform that would support mobile field inspections and ultimately deliver a single interface for team collaboration. The chosen solution required the capability to streamline data requirements for more than 24,000 assets and over 250 clients, including some of the world’s leading mining organisations.

Servicing industries subject to stringent compliance regulations, AME’s core business includes the provision of third party inspection and audit for high-risk plant and equipment such as pressure vessels and specialised lifting/handling equipment.

AME was impressed with Inspectivity’s scalable platform, offering a flexible inspection and asset management model, that would make instantly accessible asset documentation, inspection reports, photographic history, registers and compliance records.

The Inspectivity Solution

AME engaged Inspectivity to configure a dedicated instance of the Inspectivity Platform that would become the new source of truth for all existing asset and inspection information. Critical to the delivery of the project was the ability to map complicated workflows through configuration of asset inspection templates and customised reports.

Initially leveraging the inspection platform’s smart import capabilities, AME super users could retain historical asset and inspection data, making it available as required to underpin digital inspections.

Working closely with engineering focal points, Inspectivity’s deployment consultants used the flexible template editor to build digital inspection templates that would cater for pressure vessel and lifting equipment. Comprehensive system handover and onboarding would then make it possible for the AME team to self-populate the 37 additional templates that would build the future template library.

A corresponding PDF inspection reporting package, leveraging the Inspectivity Platform’s enterprise workflow would allow mobile AME inspectors to complete and submit reports from remote mining sites in Australia direct to the dashboard accessible to AME’s engineering teams in Perth.

Inertia is a French company delivering engineering, project management and procurement services to the oil and gas industry across Europe and the Middle East.

Focused on engineering services and asset integrity, Inertia’s services include: site surveys and inspection of drilling, well servicing structures and hoisting equipment, structural engineering reviews, rating studies, assessment of legacy assets, product and systems design, and project services for rig upgrades, refurbishments and new builds.

The Challenge

Inertia was seeking to transform its service model and had a vision for a self-service model of inspection that site or in-house teams could undertake with remote support and collaboration. By integrating engineering excellence with cloud and mobile technologies, effectively transitioning to a digital inspection environment, Inertia could identify cost reductions and deliver a more efficient and connected inspection environment.

Digital Inspection for Construction Management

The Client

Ok Tedi Mining Limited (OTML) was established in 1981 to mine the Mt. Fubilan copper-gold ore-body discovered in Papua New Guinea’s (PNG) Star Mountains, 16km east of the Indonesian border.

OTML is a major producer of copper concentrate for the world smelting and refinery market in Germany, India, Japan, South Korea and the Philippines. The mine exports copper as a concentrate with contained gold and silver.

Between 1984 and 2019, Ok Tedi has produced 4.93 million tonnes of copper, 15.1 million ounces of gold and 34.2 million ounces of silver.

OTML engaged Inspectivity to provide a Completion Management System (CMS) for planning and monitoring of construction and commissioning activities and to ensure a smooth handover of digital information.

The Challenge

The Ok Tedi Mine is the longest-running open-pit copper, gold and silver mine in PNG. Ore extracted as part of mine operations is processed via gyratory primary crusher, parallel grinding modules, flotation and gravity separation, and sulphur removal. Current production is expected to continue beyond the design life of 2024, facilitated by a large scale expansion project.

Seeking an alternative to traditional CMS systems, OTML agreed Inspectivity’s real-time mobile and cloud technology for managing inspection activity on their expansion project could improve productivity, data quality and set the foundation for a strong digital future. Key challenges included:

• Remote and mountainous site location with difficult access

The Client

A global company, OGRE service the oil and gas industry from operations hubs in Singapore, the USA, South Korea and the UK. Offering a range of technical and professional services for delivery of turnkey projects, including systems design and engineering, third-party compliance inspections and integrated project support, OGRE seeks to improve performance and increase efficiency in a project’s delivery.

The Challenge

OGRE’s line of work is subject to strict industry regulations and standards. Working closely with offshore drilling contractors and operators, OGRE is engaged to perform periodic third-party compliance inspections such as DROPS, Pad Eye Registers and Electrical Equipment in Hazardous Areas (EEHA).

OGRE’s EEHA certification process had historically been a lengthy process, involving field work and back office completion. The EEHA certification package and reporting comprise several substantial volumes that require significant input. For example, a jack up platform inspection could take three to four weeks to finalise reporting including aggregation of inspection data and photos, analysis of defects, and engineering assessment and material take off.

OGRE’s vision was to digitise their compliance offering and automate the preparation of certification reports for EEHA projects by integrating new cloud and mobile inspection technologies.

The Client

The Project

One of the most advanced, integrated gas production systems in the world, this LNG facility is located in north-western Australia and operated by a major oil and gas operator on behalf of several other international oil and gas entities. The facility produces thousands of tonnes of liquefied natural gas for export as well as supporting a large proportion of Australia’s domestic gas requirements.

The facilities include several LNG processing trains, domestic gas trains, condensate stabilisation units, LPG fractionation units as well as storage and loading facilities for LNG, LPG and condensate.

WorleyParsons provide detailed engineering and project management services to the Project, focusing on assessment and refurbishment works for piping, vessel and structural components of the LNG processing facility.
